Pierre Chapo (1927-1987) - Chapo Création - Cabinetmaker - Day bed L07
Day bed L07, created in 1963 by Pierre Chapo. A technical feat with impeccable aesthetics, the L07 is fully modular and transforms into a single bed, a double bed, or a bench seat. It is one of the rare pieces of furniture of this type to operate without mechanical intervention. Thanks to a very clever system, the bed unfolds into a double bed with disconcerting ease. Two banks of slatted slats slide into each other, the slats intertwine like a comb, and the hinged mattress opens like a book.
Manufacturing on demand in the Vauclusien workshop is the result of responsible forest management. The work of solid wood (elm or oak) remains the primary specificity of Chapo furniture, and this provides an inimitable finish, with perfect imperfections. The assemblies are visible and solid, the furniture is sober and functional, exuding a simple and lasting beauty.
More than 100 models have been created by Pierre Chapo. Models which for many will remain part of the history of 20th century design.
